At LBBC, we’re constantly striving to improve how we work—making our processes more efficient, our teams more empowered, and our outcomes more consistent. As part of that commitment, we’ve officially begun embracing Two Second Lean, a practical and people-focused approach to Lean thinking that encourages small, daily improvements.
What Is Two Second Lean?
Developed by author and entrepreneur Paul Akers, Two Second Lean is based on the idea that even a two-second improvement in a process—if repeated consistently across an organisation—can lead to transformational change. Rather than focusing on big, disruptive overhauls, it encourages everyone in the business to look for quick wins that reduce friction, eliminate waste, and make work flow better.
It’s not just about efficiency—it’s about building a culture where everyone is engaged in making things better every day.
Our Lean Journey So Far
We’ve started exploring core Lean principles such as value vs. waste, identifying where our time and resources are truly adding value, and where inefficiencies can be removed. From everyday admin processes to workshop operations, our team is already beginning to see opportunities for small, practical improvements that help their workday run more smoothly.
What’s been most encouraging is seeing the enthusiasm from across the team. Whether it’s a time-saving tweak in the production process or a clearer layout in a shared workspace, these improvements are being driven by the people doing the work—and that’s exactly the spirit of Two Second Lean.
Training and Support
To help embed this mindset and maximise its impact, we’re currently coordinating formal Lean training with Lean expert David Hood. This will provide our team with the tools, techniques, and confidence to deepen their understanding of Lean thinking and apply it consistently throughout the business.
We’re excited to have David on board and look forward to sharing more about the training as it unfolds.
Why It Matters
This marks a significant step in our wider commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence. By empowering our people to make small improvements every day, we’re not only boosting efficiency—we’re also fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and collaboration.
