LBBC was proud to be represented by Kyle Pickles at a special event held at BSI Headquarters, Covent Garden, London, celebrating the 50th anniversary of BS 5500, now known as PD 5500.

The event brought together industry experts, committee members, volunteers, partner organisations and supporters to recognise five decades of a standard that has played a significant role in pressure vessel design and safety.

PD 5500 is the UK’s recognised code for the design, manufacture, inspection and testing of unfired pressure vessels. It provides guidance to help ensure that pressure vessels are designed and built to the highest standards of safety, reliability and performance.

The celebration was an opportunity to reflect on the impact of the standard over the past 50 years and to recognise the collaborative effort of the engineering community in its continued development. It was also encouraging to see how PD 5500 continues to evolve, supporting innovation while maintaining the quality and safety standards that industry depends upon.

LBBC is pleased to be involved in the ongoing development of important industry standards and to support initiatives that help advance engineering excellence across the sector.

Congratulations to everyone involved in reaching this significant milestone, and thank you to all those who have contributed to the success and continued development of PD 5500 over the past five decades.
