Over the last few months LBBC Technologies has been working closely with Appris Management, who specialise in the delivery of engineering apprenticeships across West Yorkshire, with the aim of taking on a number of apprentices across the company concentrating on mechanical design, electrical design, production and new product development.

Earlier this year, two members of the LBBC Technologies team exhibited at the Appris open evening, which provided the opportunity for the company to meet with aspiring young engineers who were interested in a career in the sector.

After the event, LBBC Technologies Systems Engineer, Danny Hazell, who represented the company at the evening said “The evening was well attended and very engaging, and as an Appris apprentice myself, it provided a great opportunity to give something back to other young people just starting out in their careers. It led to some really positive conversations which, in turn has meant we as a company can move forward with our ambitions to offer apprenticeships to people in the local area!”

Following the successful event with Appris, LBBC Technologies went on to invite the key individuals that showed an interest in working for the company to their facilities on the outskirts of Leeds. The aim of the event led by LBBC Technologies was to introduce them and their families to the fifth generation family business, showing them round the facility, meeting members of the team and giving them an insight into the engineering company.

With over a dozen young people from local schools and colleges in attendance, it received great feedback from both staff and guests with individuals interested in the different areas of the company. Later on, this month, LBBC Technologies will be running a further 2-day placement where the team will get to work closer with the aspiring apprentices and get to know their skill sets with the aim of more formal placements being offered at a later stage.

Following the event, Robert Pickard, Director at LBBC Technologies said “LBBC Group is in a very exciting phase of our history at the moment with opportunities for young, budding engineers increasing across all divisions of the business. Being a fifth generation family business, we have seen the development of some excellent engineers over our 140 year history and it is a source of great satisfaction for us to be able to offer a secure, dynamic and varied environment to support a new generation of talented youngsters and watch them flourish and reach their full potential. The team put on a great event and the infectious enthusiasm they showed throughout the afternoon was clear to see. We’re excited to select and start working with the new additions to our team.”
